Indianapolis Monthly Feature: PreEnactment Indy and a Vision for 16th and the Monon

PreEnact Indy was about dreams, really big dreams. Dreams beyond closed businesses, beyond boarded up houses, beyond vacant lots. A complete over-night transformation of the Monon 16 (the intersection of the Monon Trail and 16th street) thanks to the many hands that helped create an artistic vibe in an area you probably never noticed on your way into downtown.

Mayor Joe Hogsett spoke to the many curious visitors and some of the neighborhood’s local residents about revitalization while artists, performers, and entrepreneurs mingled with every passerby. The event had over 100 artists that colored, joked, and sang loud enough to lift the spirits of everyone in attendance, the beautiful weather was just a mere highlight on an otherwise perfect afternoon.

PreEnactment Indy did in one day what all Hoosiers hope for; accessibility to the things we love and are of value to us. Like neighbors, art, food, and friendships that will last beyond those magical hours of PreEnactment Indy.
